IMD the Indian Meteorological Department has come up with warnings of the rainfall and the severe cold this season.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) has predicted potentially severe rain in several states for today and tomorrow.
As per an official release “due to the interaction of a Western Disturbance with easterly winds over central parts of India, light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms with hail and lightning very likely over the Northwest and Central India on 27th & 28th Dec, 2024”.
Rainfall Warnings
It has put the yellow warning for the same day for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh.
Further, hailstorms accompanied by thunderstorms are likely over Southeast Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra Marathwada and Gujarat on last date of December second monthly week. Like this conditions will be similar for Madhya Pradesh on December 27th and 28th.
Severe Cold and Frost
Cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely in some parts of Himachal Pradesh on December 27th and 28th.
It will be rather cold over isolated parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura through the 27th, with ground frost likely.
Dense Fog Alerts
IMD has also issued dense fog warnings:
Rajasthan: Fog – dense to very dense – late night/early morning – December 27 to 29.
Himachal Pradesh: Haziness through the night out to December 29th and 30th.
Punjab: Fog from December 27th to 30th the conditions being rather dense.
Haryana and Chandigarh: Dense fog on accounts of the cold front on December 28 – 30.
West Uttar Pradesh: Dense fog on 29 December and 30 December.
Odisha: Dense fog on December 27th.
Jharkhand: Dense fog on December 28th.
Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura: There has been dense fog from the 27th of December through to the 29th of December.
People should always follow the instructions provided on the IMD advisories and try to avoid ventures out during such weather conditions.
