One of the major Israeli hospitals has reported that PM Netanyahu has successfully recover from a prostate surgery.

Tel Aviv: Israeli’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been successfully admitted on Sunday for the operation that removed his prostate gland, the d Hospital stated. The procedure arrives at the time when he is facing a number of crises, such as the Gaza war, and a corruption trial.

As for Netanyahu himself, he has experienced some serious chronic diseases throughout the last couple of years, thus, he has made every effort to look and feel energetic. He talked during his trial this month of working 18 hours a day, while chain-smoking cigars. However, the physical strain of having to be the nation’s leader for a record 17 years has attracted attention about his health.

At 75, Netanyahu has joined a list of older world leaders that include US President Joe Biden (82 years), the former President Donald Trump (78 years), Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (79 years), and Pope Francis (88 years) whose age and health status has been a concern.

This new medical ailment of which many older men suffer from has affected Netanyahu’s trial in court. His lawyer asked the judges to adjourn the trial for three days of his testimony the coming week because the Prime Minister requires complete sedation for the procedure and would be admitted to the hospital for several days.

The head of the urology department in Hadassah Medical Centre in jerusalem Dr. Ofer Gofrit said the operation was successful and there was no trace of cancer or malignancy. “We only hope for the best,” he added. In his statement Netanyahu thanked his doctors.

The Prime Minister’s office said that he was not asleep at all and has since come back to consciousness in his heavily shielded, bomb-proof underground facility. He is supposed to remain in the hospital for a few days due to observation to be conducted on him. The Justice Minister, Yariv Levin who is very close to Netanyahu, was the PM in acting during the operation. Concerns about Netanyahu’s health in general and especially during wartime is not an issue that concerns only Israelis, but any international community.

A Region in Turmoil

Standing at the helm of events that define the Middle Eastern region, Netanyahu is Israel’s prime minister. His temporary incapacitation arrives as world brokers call on Israel and Hamas to leave the Gaza Strip or negotiate for a truce while heightened conflict with Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis intensifies.

Benign prostate diseases are normal and curable while enhancing Netanyahu’s aura of power for some time. This is particularly true as he tries to build confidence in an Israeli society surrounded by threats as well as to opponents who may discern any vulnerability.

History of previous illnesses, now with heart disease

Netanyahu has always claimed to be in top form of health in every election, preceding this one inclusive. His office often posts video of him touring war torn regions or meeting with defense leaders wearing casual clothes and body armor. However, this image had been dented the previous year when his doctors documented his heart ailment as having being in existence for four years. Netanyahu had to be hospitalized to be fitted a pacemaker after a previous incident of fainting spell. It later emerged in the media that the man had had an irregular heartbeat for years but never thought fit to inform the public.

This revelation came during anti-government protests, and it only worsened political divide in Israel. Netanyahu stamina issues which were due to frequent ill-health escalated the mistrust.

Earlier, Netanyahu’s health issues have interfered with the government business. This past year, from the heat, Parnell became dehydrated and was kept overnight in a hospital; a weekly Cabinet session was thus canceled. He was operated for a hernia in the early part of this year with general anaesthesia and Levin had to take over from him for a while.

A Quick Recovery Expected

Only recently Netanyahu’s office stated that the Israeli Prime Minister was diagnosed with urological disorder resulting from benign prostate hyperplasia. While the infection was treated by antibiotics, the doctors established that a surgery was needed.

Speaking to Army Radio, Dr. Shay Golan , head of oncology urology at Rabin Medical Centeradded said that BPH was characterized by a blockage of bladder that could lead to urine retention and other related difficulties. Golan, who was not privy to Netanyahu’s treatment, confirmed that such conditions are known to afflict men of Netanyahu’s age bracket.

Even if after biopsy the prostate is shown to be benign, as in Netanyahu’s case, surgeons prefer not to make abdominal incisions and instead employ endoscopic techniques. According to Golan, the procedure usually takes one hour, and patients can be able to recover within short time. Typically a catheter is needed 24-72 hours after the operation but the patient is allowed to start moving around almost immediately.
