Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan and Former IISc Director Padmanabhan Balaram Named in SC/ST Atrocities Case
Two complainants, Kris Gopalakrishnan the co-founder of Infosys and Padmanabhan Balaram previous director of IISc Bengaluru, have been identified to authorities under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act. Sixteen additional persons stand named in this case alongside Kris Gopalakrishnan and Padmanabhan Balaram. A complaint accessed on Monday traced its origins to a case that Sadashiva Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru documented. The case moved forward because the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH) issued formal instructions for it.
Who Filed the Complaint and Why?
Complaints were submitted to the court by Durgappa who belongs to the Bovi tribal community served previously as a faculty member at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at IISc. During 2014 Durgappa known as a member of the Bovi tribal community experienced dismissal from work when authorities falsely accused him in a honey trap incident. Durgappa claimed that tribe members inflicted caste abuse upon him while he received death threats during his situation.
Accused Individuals in the Case
The complaint was filed against Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K V S, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan. Without input from IISc faculty members and Board of Trustees member Kris Gopalakrishnan, no statements have been received from the accused individuals.
