Delhi was under a thin fog on January 9 when a bout of cold weather gripped the city. Some other North Indian states also came under similar situation where there was massive fog and chilly climate. This reached a situation where most trains that were coming to the New Delhi railway station were always late, making most passengers spend most of their time on the platforms. Some were even seen sleeping owing to constant disruption. Due to the extremely low temperatures, the majority of people started fires. At the same time, the air quality index in the national capital was stuck in the ‘hazardous’ range with AQI touching 400, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
