New Delhi, Dec 31: Before the formal launching of the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana’ expected tomorrow in Delhi, AAP is under attack from the BJP as well as the Congress party. The two parties complain that the Delhi government has been giving false and deceptive expectations to residents.
The AAP government was accused of hypocrisy by former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar while Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that it was yet another scam to cheat the people of Delhi.
AAP head Arvind Kejriwal is supposed to inaugurate the registration procedure of the scheme at Hanuman Temple in Delhi on Tuesday that will let priests and ‘granthis’ get themselves registered. He is expected to be accompanied by AAP ministers and leaders in the temple .
Speaking to the media on Monday, Kejriwal said, “The scheme known as Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana will provide an honorarium of about Rs 18,000 per month to priests of temples and granthis of Gurudwaras.” The work is the first of its kind in the country.
The effort by AAP to court the Hindu vote bank just before the Assembly polls has invited criticised it from every corner and is seen by many as a mere poll gimmick.
Referring to the AAP government Pawan Khera stated that AAP is on a spree of poll related sops and said, “It makes no difference to them as the people of Delhi have decided to vote for a Congress led government”.
BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar said to IANS, Kejriwal AAP is the new Congress, and he explained the political relevance of both the parties during the time of elections while seeking Hindu votes. He said that, ‘The Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana shows the doubleface of AAP’. So the question is where AAP differs from Congress? There is no difference today. Thus, both parties become ‘Chunavi Hindus’ when it comes to an election.”
He also accused Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi of wearing saffron and visiting temples during the elections and said that Kejriwal had started mimicking them.
Irritating AAP’s style, he said, that the party which came out of the anti-corruption movement is propagating corruption as Congress did.
“So, AAP has emerged as the new Congress,” he added.
The BJP had released a poster calling former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal as ‘Chunavi Hindu’ in the earlier part of the day.
