The ‘Gaurav Gatha’ organized by the Indian Army meant for the 77th Indian Army, will be held on January 15 with series of light and sound show in Pune wherein the way of warfare in India will be depicted.

A brief history of the 77th Indian Army Day celebration
The annual army day, which falls on the 15 th of January annually to mark the 77 th celebration will be hosted in Pune. A light and sound show named ‘Gaurav Gatha’ based on the growth of warfare in India has been the principal part of this event. The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest at the event.
‘Gaurav Gatha’ Light and Sound Show
1. Inspiration: The show derives concepts from the Hindu vehicles Ramayana and Mahabharata along with contemporary warfare.
2 .Themes Explored:
- Prachin Ranniti or Ancient Strategy
- Yudh Kala (Art of War)
- Yudh Parivartan (Transformation of Warfare)
- Yudh Pradarshan is based on the war demonstration.
- It is wars that make you immortal was a subheading that was used to accompany Shaurya Gatha (Stories of Valor).
- Vijayotsav (Celebration of Victory)
3. Technological Aspects: It will also use light, lasers and or rather multi-media translation in every show to make it an authentic performance.
4. Venue: The Bhagat Pavilion in the premises of the Bombay Engineers Group (BEG) and Centre, which is under the Southern Command of the Indian Army situated in Pune.
5. Duration: Approximately 35 minutes.
Parade Highlights
1. First-Time Parade in Pune: The passing out parade is being organized under the banner of ‘Samarth Bharat, Saksham Sena’ capable India, efficient army.
2. Special Attractions:
- He was participating in the performance of the Nepal Army band.
- An NCC girls marching contingent.
- The exhibition of ‘robotic mules’.
Honoring Heroes
The event will celebrate legendary warriors and freedom fighters, including:
- Lord Ram: Luv Known to command the Vanar Sena ( an army of monkeys)
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj: The renowned Maratha warrior.
- Mangal Pandey and Bhagat Singh: Iconic freedom fighters.
Working with Defence Minister
Before attending the ‘Gaurav Gatha’ event, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will:
- Take them out for tea and spend sometime with them, some of them are ‘veer nari’ (brave women) and acquainted with many veterans.
- Launch an app and symbolically mark the start of construction of an Army Paralympic Node.
History of Indian Army Day
- Significance: Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15th January which is observed to commemorate the handing over of the command of the Indian Army from ‘British General Sir Francis Butcher to Lt. Gen. KM Cariappa ‘the First Indian Commander-in-Chief on 15th January 1949.
- Celebration: It pays respect the bravery, the losses and the commitment of the Indian army personals.
- Lieutenant General KM Cariappa: Born in Karnataka He was one among the two personalities to have been awarded with the rank of Field Marshal of India other being Sam Manekshaw.
Indian Army Day is dedicated to the brave and honorable Indian Armed Forces and the planned event and parade in Pune are likely to set benchmarks for tradition, vigour, and history.
