Netaji came into existence on 23 January 1897 at Cuttack in Odisha. As the youngest of his parent’s nine children Janakinath Bose and Prabhavati Devi welcomed him into the world. As top of his class at Presidency College in Calcutta he obtained his BA in Philosophy before moving on to his next education steps. His father arranged English training in 1919 so Subhas Chandra Bose could take the Civil Service Examination there and earn top marks in English while ranking fourth.

Resigning from Civil Services

After resigning from Civil Services in 1921 Netaji went back to India to support the independence movement. His disputes with British officials made him well-known as an outspoken freedom leader.

Mentorship and Leadership

Under leadership of Chittaranjan Das the Congress party Netaji received his training. In 1922 Das and Motilal Nehru set up the Swaraj Party. During 1923 Netaji won leadership roles through his election as All India Youth Congress President and took office with Bengal State Congress Secretarial responsibilities. He took charge as mayor of Calcutta during a six-month period in 1930.His Travel and International Co-operations

In the 1930s Netaji traveled through Europe to talk with Benito Mussolini about securing support for India’s independence movement. When he returned to India he took charge as Congress president in 1938 to advance freedom.
