Rajat Patidar Named as RCB’s New Captain

The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has announced Rajat Patidar as their new captain for the upcoming 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.

Leadership Change at RCB

RCB was previously led by South African cricketer Faf du Plessis after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role. However, du Plessis was released by the franchise ahead of last year’s mega auction and later joined Delhi Capitals. With his departure, RCB needed a new captain for IPL 2025.

Why Not Virat Kohli?

Many expected Kohli to take up the role again since he had led the team for a long time. While he was considered, the team management decided it was time for a fresh start. They believe Patidar has the leadership qualities needed to succeed as the new captain.
