NEW DELHI: A young man in Noida, 21-year-old Dheeraj, was attacked by a woman he met on social media after he rejected her marriage proposal. The incident was reported by the police on Wednesday.
Dheeraj is currently being treated at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida for injuries sustained during the attack. Rabupura police station in-charge, Inspector Raghavendra Kumar Singh, provided details of the case, which began with a complaint from Hansraj, Dheeraj’s father and a resident of Ronija village.
Hansraj filed the complaint on Tuesday night, stating that his son, a BCom student, was attacked by a woman named Priya. Dheeraj had met Priya on social media around six months ago, and they had become friends. Priya had also visited Greater Noida during their friendship.
On the morning of December 24, Priya called Dheeraj and invited him to meet her. According to the complaint, Dheeraj agreed and met her. While they were in a car together, Priya offered him fruit juice. Unbeknownst to Dheeraj, Priya had spiked the juice with a substance that rendered him unconscious.
After Dheeraj drank the juice, Priya called two of her friends to join her. The three of them attempted to attack Dheeraj with a sharp weapon. However, their plan was interrupted when passersby noticed Dheeraj lying unconscious in the car. The bystanders quickly informed the police about the situation.
Dheeraj was rushed to Yatharth Hospital, where he is now receiving treatment for his injuries. The doctors are monitoring his condition closely.
Inspector Singh confirmed that the police have registered a case against Priya and her two unidentified accomplices. They are being charged under various sections of the law, including attempted murder. The police are actively investigating the case to gather more evidence and identify the two other individuals involved in the attack.
The incident has shocked the local community, as it highlights the dangers of trusting people met through social media. Authorities are urging people to exercise caution when meeting individuals they do not know well.
Hansraj, the victim’s father, expressed his distress over the attack on his son. He stated that Dheeraj had no idea Priya would harm him and had simply trusted her as a friend.
The police are working on identifying the exact motive behind the attack and tracking down the accomplices. Meanwhile, Dheeraj’s family and friends are hoping for his speedy recovery.
