The deal comes after several weeks of intense indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha, Qatar diplomacy spearheaded by United States, Egypt and Qatar.

Hamas and Israel agreed in principle to cease fire earlier today thus ending the standoff that had continued for over 15 months. It comes after prolonged discussions held in Doha, Qatar, which involved Egyptian, Qatari and American mediators. These countries have made the necessary assurance for the ceasefire to be implemented.
Ceasefire Timeline
Qatar issued the statement through its Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani saying that the ceasefire will commence on Sunday. But, he said that consultations on the technicalities of the implementation of the ceasefire on the ground with both Israel and Hamas are still on. Israel admits that some last points are still to be clarified, and a vote on the deal is expected from the Israeli government tomorrow.
Details of the Agreement
There has been no official disclosure of the terms of the ceasefire by Israel, Hamas or the mediators to the public. From the time the war started in October 2023 till now, the Israeli Defense Force has martyred more than 46000 Palestinians.
