Arvind Kejriwal Delivers Good News for Male Students and Metro Subsidy
During the AAP’s campaign on Friday, Kejriwal told the media that if Delhi voted AAP back into power, the party would offer free bus travel for boy students in schools and college and a 50 percent discount on metro fares.
Shackling and fettering on Education and Student Welfare
One sure thing worth stating is that the so-called Aam Aadmi Party-led government values education. Most students lack funds to pay for education hence they never attend schools. If our government is able to come back to power we will further add the free bus services benefits to the male students. ‘Today boys do not get this free service and only girls do, this will continue no more,’ said Kejriwal.
At present, the Delhi government has launched a facility of women-only buses, that is, women can travel in AC and non-AC buses without paying any fare in Delhi Transport Corporation buses.
Metro Fare Concession: Kejriwal’s Proposal
Kejriwal also referred to his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, submitted recently suggesting that students travelling in Delhi Metro should get 50 percent fare subsidized. For many students, the metro is used while in Delhi, but the cost of transportation leaves some students stranded. The fact is that such high fares create numerous problems for students. Metro is a service which is owned by both the Delhi state government and the Central government. I have personally written a letter to the Prime Minister asking him to allow a 50 percent concession on metro for students,” said Kejriwal.
A call for shared responsibility.
This, Kejriwal said would be financed through a cost-sharing model, 50: 50 between the Delhi state government and the Central government. I believe this is a matter that involves the public rather than the political-business interest in any given nation. Assuming that, I will seek the permission of the House to write to the Prime Minister directly and hope that she will find this request positively, he said.
Toward the Change for Delhi Students
Speaking further, Kejriwal assured citizens that after the election, all students in Delhi will be able to travel for free on buses. Further, all students in the city will be allowed a 50 percent reduction in metro fares.
