New Delhi Assembly Election 2025: Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of AAP contested the Delhi Assembly Election in 2020 and won by 21,697 votes that of the 28.45% votes. He polled 46,758 votes, 61.01 percent of total votes and won the seat for his party defeating his rival Sunil Kumar Yadav of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

This constituency is part of New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. In 2020 Delhi Assembly elections AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal secured the seat with a voting margin of 21,697 against BJP candidate Sunil Kumar Yadav. In 2024 Lok Sabha election BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj comes out victorious in New Delhi Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 78,370 votes over AAP’s Somnath Bharti.
Demographic details of New Delhi Constituency
There were as many as 145,894 voters in New Delhi as per the Election Commission data from the 2020 Assembly elections. Of them, 79,795 were male voters and 66,098 were female voters, and no third-gender voters. Further, 556 Postal votes were exercised and there are 221 Service voters (179 male and 42 female).
On the other hand, the 2015 voters’ turnout consisted 137,851 voters, 76,015 male voters, 61,828 female voters and only 6 third gender voters. In this constituency, 1,040 valid postal votes were received and 73 service votes (46 men; 37 women).

In 2020 with total votes 76,819 the AAP candidate Arvind Kejriwal secured 46,758 (61.01% vote share) votes and the BJP candidate Sunil Kumar Yadav got 25,061 (32.75%) votes. The congress candidate Romesh Shobarwal got the third position with 3,220 votes (4.21%).
2015 Delhi Assembly Elections
Arvind Kejriwal, politician of AAP party successfully contested again in the year 2015 with 57,213 votes which amount to 64.14% vote share. Coming second was BJP’s Nupur Sharma who managed 25,630 votes, 28.73%.

During the 2020 elections, the voter turn out in New Delhi Assembly was recorded to be 52.37% and there were as many as 75930 valid votes. However, the 2015 election recorded 64.68% turnout, an increase in voters’ turnout of 89,207 of valid votes cast.
