NEW DELHI: Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Tuesday that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will soon be provided government accommodation as he is the head of a national party.
Khattar briefing the press said that Kejriwal needs a Type VII bungalow because he is the national party convenor. Nevertheless, he said all the Type VII bungalows are let out at the moment.
At this time, there are only two types of bungalows: Type V and Type VI, while there are no Type VII bungalows that are empty. As soon as a Type VII bungalow is available, Kejriwal will be allotted one, Khattar clarified.
The AAP has time and again demanded official accommodation for Kejriwal and claimed him to be eligible as the party convenor. On this, the organization has recently written a letter formally stating so to the Union Housing Ministry.
Kejriwal shifted to 5 Ferozeshah Road in New Delhi when he resigned as Delhi Chief Minister in September 2014 and took a rented house in October 2014 in the same building at the residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal.
