SM Krishna, who had also served as the Governor of Maharashtra as well as External Affairs Minister, was born in 1932.
Bengaluru: SM Krishna the Ex Karnataka Chief Minister who played a pivotal at Bengaluru to transform the city into a IT hub of the world has also left the world aged 92 years last night. He died around 2:45 am at his residence in Bengaluru after being critically ill for sometime.
The Karnataka government has declared three days mourn in the state and the funeral will be performed with full state dignity in Mandya district to morrow.
Syed Muhaisen Krishna, one of the most important political leaders of Karnataka was born on 1st may 1932, at Somanahalli Mandya Dist.. While he significantly contributed to fostering Bengalsuru as one of the key global technology locations and being the state chief minister. In the later part of his political tenure he joined the Congress to BJP.
Several senior leaders and political parties condoled the loss saying Krishna was a great leader, a visionary and a selfless worker for society. He also recalled Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Krishna, especially for his performance on infrastructural development. He also described Krishna as an intellectual and a book worm.
The Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah condemn the incident and pointed that Krishna served the state’s top post for three terms as a chief minister besides being a union minister and state minister. Till adv Dave saluted the role played by Mr.Krishna in the overall development of the IT-BT sector in the state especially during his period of Chief minister ship he also reminisce over the Political trainings given by Mr.Krishna to him.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu described Krishna as a true leader that the welfare of people of the country was in first place. To that end, Naidu pointed out that they all worked to woo investments to their respective states and expressed his sincere condolences to Krishna’s kin and loved ones.
Krishna then continued his education in Maharaja’s College in Mysuru and then he graduated law from the Government Law College in Bengaluru. He later went to school in the United States; Southern Methodist University and George Washington University as Fulbright Scholar.
In 1962 he entered into politics by securing the Maddur assembly seat with Independent party and defeating the Congress leader KV Shankar Gowda. He was first elected to parliament in 1968 from Mandya and rejoined state politics in 1972 after resigning from the post. He again joined the Lok Sabha in 1980.
Before this, he was named with the Praja Socialist Party with which he moved to the Congress in 1971. In 1999, through Congress party, he won the state of Karnataka, where he was the Chief Minister. He was also the Governor of Maharashtra from May 2004 to April 2008 and India’s Foreign Minister in April 2009.
