In the second day of the 5th test of India-Australia series at Sydney Cricket Grounds, India got a little consolidated lead as, for all-out 181, they scalped Australian team.
During the Indian bowlers Umesh and Prasidh Krishna bagged three wickets apiece while Mohammed Siraj also got three wickets. Opener Marnus Labuschagne fell early to the trickery of captain Jasprit Bumrah and took series total to 32 wickets at an astonishing average of 13.06. However, Bumrah went off the playing arena after lunch to undergo some medical tests and did not come back, during the remaining part of the day.
The Australian debutant Beau Webster did well to score a good 57, which was the first fifty of the match. However, the Australian batting order failed although on Smith’s bat, the last three wickets for only 15 runs. Scott Boland was the last man to be dismissed by Siraj giving India a narrow lead at the end of Indian innings.
India’s second innings also started with the opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. The team on Sunday intends to make a big score to pressurise Australia as they aware that a victory in this particular match makes India even the series 2-2 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
