Cricket former player Navjot Singh Sidhu opposes the decision to replace Rohit Sharma for the fifth and final Test against Australia to be held in Sydney. Sidhu also labelled the move of shifting Sharma as bizarre and he warned that a captain of Sharma’s calibre must be accorded some respect.
Sidhu said this: “It is rather funny that the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, was not included in the team today. This is rather bizarre, rather strange simply because for the first time in Indian cricket history has their captain been left out.
He went on saying, ‘You just don’t make them the captain, but if you have and that is such a great player has served Indian cricket, then whether he is in good form or bad form doesn’t matter. Captain is not an option, that he can just decide not take it anymore, this is wrong message.”
After the team manager Sharma excluded I can see many people wondering as to how a out-and-out striker, who has the experience and captaincy material, can be benched for a cracker of a match, especially when a team is locked 1-1 in the series.
