Congress objects Kejriwal for not including Valmiki and Ravidas temples in Honorarium Scheme

Backlash To the Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana of AAP

On Monday, the Congress firmly opposed to AAP convenor and the former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for latest move of not including the priests of Valmiki and Ravidas temple in the party’s honorarium list. Proposed in December, the AAP’s Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana provides an Rs 18,000 monthly wage to priests and granthis from gurdwaras, if the party wins.

Parliament has accused of bias against Dalits

Later, Congress MP & General Secretary Jairam Ramesh countered Kejriwal on X and alleged that Kejriwal has an anti Dalit mentality. There are more observations of Ramesh regarding the list he said that the temple priests of Valmiki and Ravidas were excluded on purpose.

“Arvind Kejriwal announced salaries for priests and granthis but excluded Buddha Vihar, Valmiki, and Ravidas temple priests from the list,” he said. This shows the AAP’s anti-Dalit mindset That is not a new thing that has been said about AAP. Such examples were observed earlier, Ramesh said.

Lack of Representation in AAP

Additionally, Ramesh pointed that AAP does not encompass marginalized groups of the population. Currently AAP has more than 10 Rajya Sabha members out of which none falls in the SC/ST or OBC quotas. Besides, with the act of sacking Dalit leader Rajendra Gautam from his cabinet Arvind Kejriwal demonstrated his contempt for Dalit leaders,” he further said.

Accusations of Sabotage of the Reservation System

Continuing his onslaught against the AAP government, Congress leader also said that AAP has diluted the reservation system in Delhi by resorting to contractual employment. It should be noted that ‘AAP is gradually dissolving the reservation policy in Delhi, which policy especially targets minorites,’ Ramesh said.

These criticisms will contribute to ratcheting up press scrutiny of AAP’s policies in the run up to the elections.
