NEW DELHI: Jaipur DCP West has revealed that the death toll from the tragedy of Bhankrota Ajmer Road in Jaipur has reached fourteen. This happened on Friday morning when an LPG tanker was involved in an accident with a truck and the result was a leak of the gas when it caught fire.
The fire burnt 37 vehicles and 28 people were hurt most of them seriously. The crash occurred around 5:On the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, the first spot for encounter was on 30 AM near a school. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said, Those chemicals in the tanker was leaking and emitting gas which caused fire to spread quickly. Car following the tanker and those approaching from the other side of the road were engulfed in the flames.”
People who saw the moment claim that it was horrifying. Other people were falling and screaming for assistance.” One man was completely on fire. The situation was dreadful,” said a school van driver who was heading to transport several students. The smoke produced by it was pitch black; the hottest part and the fire could be sensed even one kilometer away.
As many as 25 over of the ambulances brought the injured to the SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Elements of transport destroyed by fire included trucks, buses, Mongolian nomad-type motorcycles, auto rickshaws, and cars.
The highway was soon closed down for several hours before workers were able to clear all the wreckage and open it again the same night.
