AAP Alleges BJP of Interruption of Press Conference and Documentary Screening
In his complaint to the L-G, Sanjay Singh, the AAP leader & MP has alleged that BJP has been threatening Delhi Police to stop his party from holding a press meet & screening a documentary on Arvind Kejriwal. Singh said that the police prevented the journalists from watching the documentary by cordoning off the Godavari auditorium that was booked for the screening. As a result of which Singh sat on a dharna at the place protesting against the officials to show them an order which was canceling the program. He went on to say that AAP would go ahead and air the documentary and again ask why BJP was so worked up about it. Singh, in his opinion on the documentary, said that it shows Kejriwal arrest and other AAP leaders as well was unlawful and how fake charges were used to imprison tremendous.
Delhi Cop Rebukes AAP’s Assertions
A senior Delhi Police officer said that no permission had been sought for the event, and added that any event related to election, is subject to the permission of the district magistrate. Singh replied that the Election Commission not being competent enough to cancel the permission for the press conference since their jurisdiction is confined only related to election campaign.
BJP replies to AAP’s claims
In response, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said AAP is spitting out all these figures based on a potential electoral loss. Kapoor explained that since Kejriwal and Singh made the documentary themselves, there was no way to prove that Kejriwal was not guilty. He also said that any public showing of the documentary would be in violation of courts restrictions in Kejriwal’s legal matters.
