Kejriwal announces Rs 18,000 monthly stipend

Kejriwal announces Rs 18,000 monthly stipend for Hindu priests and Sikh granthis.

Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) head Arvind Kejriwal vowed a new policy for Hindu priests and Sikh granthis on Monday with Rs 18,000 a month financial help in case AAP gets a next hierarchical assembly vote.

He also added that the registration for the scheme would commence on December 31 (Tuesday). “Tomorrow I shall go to the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place to start the process of registration,” he said further.

Kejriwal added, “This is the first time in the country.” We have continued to neglect a set of people who have transmitted religious practices from one generation to another, abandoned their families and families of priests, and have not paid enough attention to them.

The former Chief Minister also said, “I request the BJP not to act as a hindrance to the registration process.” To prevent this would be as much a sin as anything for these priests are the means for the rest of us to get to God.
